The holidays are upon us and with that comes- WINTER! There are numerous activities available near the Prior Lake and Savage, Minnesota area during the winter with your pet. The south metro is a center for enjoyable activities and pet-related fun! Make your Winter Dog Care Fun in Prior Lake & Savage with these tips for this winter!


1.      Visit The Savage Tap, Savage's newest and sole brewery, where dogs are not just welcome but also pampered! They offer a selection of dog treats and have a relief station for your pet's convenience. The venue also hosts local adoption events! Free water dishes are provided.

2.      Have a dog that loves to swim? Visit The Dog Tank in Mendota Heights for an enjoyable winter activity when the lakes are iced over. They supply dog life jackets and toys, though you're welcome to bring your own. Invite a friend, grab a towel, and enjoy some splashy fun! Options include two dogs for a half-hour or four dogs for a full hour.


3.      Interested in a Sniffari for your dog? For the Love of Dogs Training School provides Scentwork and Barn Hunt classes. Train your dog to locate scents hidden in your home for an exciting game of Hide-and-Go-Seek, or take them to the barn hunt ring to safely search for rats in a secure tube. Both classes will definitely challenge your dog’s mind!


4.      Go Shopping! With so many pet friendly places to pop in to, the southwest metro has many options. Petsmart in Shakopee, Chuck and Don’s in Savage, Pet Supplies Plus or Petco in Burnsville are fabulous spots to bring Fido along for a shopping trip.


5.      Enjoy a dog hike at Cleary Lake Regional Park or Murphy Hanrehan Park Reserve, or have one of our dog walkers from Preferred Pet Sitter take your dog on an Adventure Hike. Your dog can satisfy their sniffing needs with every step as they meander through the beautiful forest. For a more secluded experience with a reactive dog, consider going on a weekday.
